Anthracite Version 1.5 Change Log

Important Note: Documents created or saved with version 1.5 are not backward compatible (they can only be opened by version 1.5 or newer).

Version 1.5 is a major update that adds more than a dozen new features, enhancements and bug fixes, including:

New Features

Conditional Processor - Much requested functionality that lets you conditionally operate on text depending on if it equals, contains or matches another string or regular expression.

DOC/RTF Support - integrated support for extracting text from Microsoft Word ".doc" and RTF format files using Apple's built-in file format support.

Source URL Export Name and Path - much requested (and long overdue) ability to use the URL of the source page as the filename for output, including creating required subdirectories and index documents.

Regex Find/Replace - with parenthetical back expressions.

Complete overhaul of export file UI - much needed redesign of file export user interface, now divided into three tabbed panes for selecting the output directory, specifing the naming conventions, and setting options for exported files.

Enhancements

User-selectable Log File location

New Log Window buttons and functions: select all, copy selected text to find pasteboard (plus key equivalents)

Document name and start time added to log at info level for automation auditing support

Tilde in path expansion in source file urls, source url list file, export path and Unix commands.

Now prompts at startup when new version available.

Can delete all results by holding down command and clicking "delete" on results sheet

Added ignore dotfile option to directory source.

Work on task handling for case of successful but early completion of task.

New splash window and disk background graphics.

Bug Fixes & Miscellaneous

Source/Export Set Directory now offers "New Folder" option.

Fixed bug where URL connections were not being properly cancelled after timeout.
Added additional checks for user cancel in URL loading handler.
Improved relative URL handling in Links on Page Source Object.

Preview temporary file now kept in ~/Library/Application Support/Anthracite/AnthraciteTemp.html

Improved performance and efficiency of append log file method.

Set User-Agent in NSURLRequest.

Tested with Flock browser

Log message and debugging cleanups.

Updated sample docs:

Sample documents have all been re-run/re-tested. Be sure to see added "Solutions" folder for pre-baked, just add water systems that you can start to use today. Also added sample documents for new capabilities, including Conditional processing and Export File using Full Source URL Path.
